Eversource: Carbon Neutral by 2030

There's no word on the importance of preserving the trees--which of course remove and store carbon while releasing oxygen back into the air-- but here's what Eversource says to customers about its clean energy agenda:

From Eversource:

We’re committed to building renewable energy infrastructure today that creates a clean energy future for our customers, communities, and our own families.

  • Clean Energy: Our future is clean energy. It's core to our commitment to lead our industry in sustainability and is a critical element of our business today and in the future. We're dedicated to making our operations carbon neutral by 2030, and to bringing more clean and affordable energy to New England.
  • Offshore Wind: We’ve partnered with the global leader in offshore wind, Ørsted, to secure at least 4,000 megawatts of total development opportunity. Our current portfolio will collectively provide enough clean energy to power more than 1 million homes. We’re proud to have started construction on our first offshore wind project, South Fork Wind, which will also bring more than 500 direct jobs to the region.
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers: We offer rebates, incentives, expertise and more to help renters, homeowners, municipalities and businesses of all sizes install EV chargers and build New England’s EV charging network.
  • Solar Energy: We have owned and operated solar energy facilities since 2010. Today, our 70 MW solar portfolio generates enough electricity to power more than 11,000 average homes.
  • Geothermal: Eversource is piloting a first-of-its-kind networked geothermal technology project in Framingham, Massachusetts. Geothermal systems transfer warm and cool air from underground wells to sustainably heat and cool buildings, and are part of a growing portfolio of emerging technologies we are exploring.

Eversource is working on these projects while also taking steps to achieve carbon neutrality in our own operations by the year 2030.
