Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut Environmental Grants

Deadline: Jan 13, 2023

Grants of up to $50,000 to for environmental programming. Funding is for environmental education and conservation activities that benefit the Foundation's 42-town area. Priority will be given to programs that: Preserve and protect environmentally significant lands, waterways, and wildlife habitats – for the benefit not only of the ecosystem, but for the health, livelihood, and enjoyment of local residents; Engage youth, especially youth of color, in environmental education to help develop the next generation of stewards of the environment; and Focus on environmental justice: the fair distribution of environmental benefits and burdens and meaningful participation of all communities in environmental decision-making. Farm Credit East Invites Apps for AgEnhancement Program

Deadline: Dec 1, 2022

Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to support programs, projects, and activities that promote awareness of and strengthen agriculture, commercial fishing, and forest products in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, or Vermont. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded in support of efforts to foster and grow all types of agriculture, forest production, or commercial fishing, including traditional and nontraditional production and marketing approaches. Program areas include but are not limited to leadership development; economic viability and enhancement; programs to promote northeast agriculture and recognize developments of ag leaders; efforts to build a better understanding of agriculture, forestry, and commercial fishing agriculture in the classroom programs; and economic analysis to foster agriculture. Environmental Research & Education Foundation Invites Proposals For Waste Management Practices

Pre-proposal deadline: Dec 1, 2022

The EREF invites applications for projects and research related to sustainable solid waste management practices. The following topic areas will be considered: climate change impacts on and from solid waste management; quantifying circularity of materials; quantifying the environmental burden of plastic wastes; environmental justice relating to solid waste; waste minimization; recycling; waste conversion to energy, biofuels, chemicals or other useful products (this includes, but is not limited to, the following technologies: waste-to-energy, anaerobic digestion, composting, and other thermal or biological conversion technologies); strategies to promote diversion to higher and better uses (e.g., organics diversion, market analysis, optimized material management, logistics, etc.); and landfilling. Previously awarded grants have ranged from $15,000 to over $500,000, with the average grant amount in recent years being $160,000 over an average of two years.
